The 13th Annual International Convention of the Mars Society will take place in Dayton on August 5 - 8, 2010 and with it comes Mars Camp - a free one day “come when you can, leave when you must,” event on August 7, 2010 from 10am to 4pm at the Dayton Marriott on South Patterson Boulevard.Get ready for take-off at the Mars Camp, which features demonstrations, hands-on exhibits, and talks related to aerospace and space exploration. Local participants include the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, Mars Society Ohio Chapter, University of Dayton Advanced Rocket Team, Wright “B” Flyer, and many more! The Camp is aimed at educating and inspiring the next generation of space explorers and this year’s theme, “Reaching Higher,” encourages families to help future generations to reach higher in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Activities during Mars Camp include building and launching your own rocket, watching robots in action, and flying simulators of old and new aircraft. “Teachers in Space” astronauts Chantelle Rose and Steve Heck are amongst those leading activities.
