, Phone: 937-425-0008 This seven-sided, 84-acre field has become famous as the testing site that the Wright Brothers used to perfect their aircraft. After their successful flight in North Carolina, they also used the field to train pilots. Having conducted hundreds of flights here, the Wright Brothers felt this is where they "really learned to fly." The Flying Field is designated both a National Historic Landmark and an Ohio Natural Landmark. The National Parks Huffman Prairie Flying Field involves visitors in the process of inventing flight, addressing the problems that the brothers faced along the way. Visitors can also view displays on the continuing legacy of the Wright Brothers that lives on at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Details
