Visitors to Carillon Historical Park learn about Dayton's landmark inventions, aviation heritage and pioneer history. Explore 25 historical buildings and hundreds of artifacts and exhibits on the beautiful 65-acre campus, where the original Wright Flyer III - the world's first practical airplane and a National Historic Landmark - is on display. Learn about famous inventor Charles F. Kettering, whose inventions include the refrigerant Freon, the first electrical vehicle ignition system and the first practical engine-driven electric generator. Kettering's life as an inventor, businessman and philanthropist can be encountered in the Deeds Barn: a replica of the barn which belonged to Col. Edward A. Deeds, Kettering's business partner and establisher of the Park. Board a 1903 Barney & Smith Parlor car and see antique automobiles, a working 1930s print shop and vintage bicycles as Dayton's inventive contributions to the world are revealed.
