Overview

The ARTery Gallery at Front Street invites you to come see our NEW hallway show entitled “SPRING AT LAST” on display May through June.  Come meet Rosalie Campbell, an exceptionally talented fiber artist, and the gallery’s featured artist this month.  The ARTery also has a very gifted up and coming guest artist for May , Austin Ranly.   Ranly describes himself as an urban sketcher at heart, specializing in on-scene drawings of architecture, bars, restaurants, and the people that occupy them.  The ARTery Gallery currently has 17 artists and artisans, and hosts a variety of work from Jewelry and Ceramics to Textile art, Printmaking, Sculpture, Painting, Photography, and Digital Art.  The ARTery Gallery is located in the Front Street Bldg, Door B-C, 3rd Floor.

Rosalie Campbell is a very experienced textile artist at the ARTery.  The “Cocoon” Jacket pictured is one of her latest weaving creations and they are currently available at the gallery.  She has several weaving looms and has enjoyed weaving for 40 years, but has taken her weaving pursuits more seriously over the last 10 years since retiring from the Teradata Co.  She mostly weaves scarves, but also enjoys weaving placemats, table runners, wall hangings, clothing, pillows, afghans, and rugs. She has taken many weaving and dyeing workshops locally and nationally from nationally known weavers.  Rosalie is a member of the Weavers Guild of Miami Valley, Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati, and Midwest Weavers Guild.

As well as weaving, Rosalie also enjoys creating Shibori dyed scarves and t-shirts.  Shibori is an ancient Japanese dye process of shaping cloth by pinching, pleating, stitching, wrapping and folding, and then securing these shapes by knotting, binding and clamping.  Dye and/or bleaching agents are then applied to the textile while it is in these forms. She has taken Japanese Shibori dyeing and design workshops from local and nationally known artists.  Besides The ARTery, Rosalie has exhibited and sold her work at The Contemporary in Dayton and The Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati Fall Sale.  She has also been in several local weaving exhibits.

Current ARTery Artists include:  Alison Bour, Rosalie Campbell, Bob Farley, Carol Farley, Jason Hallmark, Jim Hayes, Kelly Ingerson, Carolyn Jordan, Bonnie Kuntz, Sarah Maxwell, Melanie Morrett, Ashley Simons, Ryan Taylor, Jo Anne Vincent, Leonard Williams, and David Zawisa.
