Call for Artists! HWD Height x Width x Depth Juried Sculpture Exhibition

Overview

Rosewood Arts Center announces a call to artists in Ohio and surrounding states to participate in the 18th annual HWD Juried Sculpture Exhibition with the Kettering Health Art Gallery at Rosewood Arts Center. HWD (Height x Width x Depth) is the area’s only gallery exhibition devoted exclusively to sculpture. This is a regional call. Entries must be original works in sculpture (3-D), completed within the last four years.

Jury is done from digital files through Call for Entry. A non-refundable entry fee of $25 for up to three artworks must accompany each entry. Multiple entries are permitted. Accepted artworks must be ready to hang/install upon arrival at Rosewood, and must be labeled with artist’s name and artwork title on the piece or its packaging.

A reception will take place on Saturday, September 14, 1 – 3pm at the Kettering Health Art Gallery at Rosewood Arts Center. All artists and the general public are invited to attend. Awards will be announced at 2pm.

Awards totaling $1,100 will be distributed at the discretion of the juror. The Gallery encourages sales, for which the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department retains a 30% commission.

2024 JURORS: Kelly and Kyle Phelps
This year’s jurors are identical twin brothers Kelly and Kyle Phelps. Kelly Phelps is a Professor at Xavier University (Cincinnati) and Kyle is a Professor at University Dayton (Dayton) where they head the sculpture and ceramic departments. Much of the twins’ ceramics based work is about the blue collar working-class, race relations, and the everyday struggles of the common man and woman. The twins continue to work collaboratively to create their artwork and share a studio in Centerville (OH). They share numerous grants, regional, national, and international exhibitions, and commissions. Their work is also included in many permanent museum collections across the United States. Most notable private collectors of the twin’s work are in the hands of film director Michael Moore, and actor Morgan Freeman as well as major reviews in Ceramics Monthly, Sculpture Magazine, and American Craft Magazine.
