Overview

Beginning this fall and through summer 2022, Rosewood Arts Center will host a community-created mural, the first in a new initiative to create public murals in partnership with the community in Kettering.  The mural will be designed through a partnership with the Dayton Printmakers Cooperative (DPC), students in the Kettering City Schools, Kettering residents and a professional mural artist. The DPC will facilitate printmaking workshops at Kettering Middle School, Fairmont High School, the Kettering Recreation Complex and Rosewood Arts Center during the fall of 2021. Utilizing the dialogues and artwork created through the workshops, the mural artist will join the DPC to create a site-specific, final artwork design, and will employ Kettering teenagers to assist in the mural painting in summer 2022.

The community can participate in free, in-person workshops on Saturday, November 13 from 10 – 11 a.m. at Rosewood Arts Center or Saturday, December 11 from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Kettering Recreation Center. All ages are welcome.

This project is managed by Rosewood Arts Center and the CitySites Percent for Art Program, and supported in part by the Ohio Arts Council and the Montgomery County Arts and Culture District with Culture Works.
