Overview

Join park rangers from Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park out the Huffman Prairie to learn about the natural history of the prairie and how humans have used it for different things: hunting by Native Americans, farmland by settlers in 1790's, grazing pastures by Torrence Huffman, flight testing ground and flight school with the Wrights, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base’s predecessors.

There will be ranger-led tours of the prairie and fun activities for all ages! Come learn about the prairie, complete a Junior Ranger program (or two!), learn about how you can help preserve our nation's parks, and enjoy the outdoors at Dayton's national park!

The Huffman Prairie Flying Field is accessed through Gate 16A from Rt. 444 on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This is a public access base gate.

Rain plan: Come to the Huffman Prairie Flying Field Interpretive Center to complete a Junior Ranger program and other fun national park activities with rangers. The Interpretive Center is located at 2380 Memorial Dr., Dayton, OH 45433.
