Overview

Community members of all ages will work at various sites throughout the Dayton area, including:

  • Habitat restoration and invasive plant removal at Adventure Central/Wesleyan, Aullwood, Carriage Hill, Cox Arboretum, Hills & Dales, Island, Possum Creek, Taylorsville and Wegerzyn MetroParks.
  • Garden and landscaping at Deeds Points, RiverScape and Wegerzyn Gardens MetroParks.
  • General and trail maintenance at Englewood and Island MetroParks
  • Garbage and debris removal at Adventure Central/Wesleyan, Englewood, Island and RiverScape MetroParks.
  • Reforestation projects at Carriage Hill, Eastwood, Englewood, Germantown and Sugarcreek MetroParks.

“Part of MetroParks’ mission is to protect the region’s natural heritage. With more than 16,000 acres to protect, we certainly need help from volunteers,” said Yvonne Dunphe, MetroParks volunteer coordinator. “Make a Difference Day is the perfect occasion to spend a beautiful fall day making a difference in one of our 18 clean, safe MetroParks.”

Local levy support makes up approximately 80 percent of Five Rivers MetroParks annual revenue, and the thousands of volunteers who work side-by-side with MetroParks’ staff help extend tax dollars and other resources.
