Project FeederWatch will be held virtually, using the Zoom platform, and you're invited to join the crew! Brew a cup of coffee or tea, grab a snack and join our Project FeedWatch Zoom call while birding from your home. Everyone is welcome -- with or without bird feeders -- and it's free to participate in our event. There will be an Aullwood staff person attending the Zoom call, who may sometimes bird from the Nature Center so the FeederWatch counts will continue for Aullwood, too. Project FeederWatch will be on Monday and Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:30 am.
This winter-long survey is a great opportunity to start bird watching or fine-tune your bird ID skills. Identify (resources available) and count birds for scientific research. Participants periodically identify and count the birds they see from November through March. You can keep a personal list, and you may also choose to officially submit the data to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. This data helps scientists better understand our winter bird populations as well as long-term trends in bird distribution and abundance. Visit the Cornell website www.feederwatch.org for more information on this research. Visit https://aullwood.audubon.org/FeederWatch for more information on how to join Aullwood’s Project FeederWatch community!
