Dayton Transportation & Location

Dayton is located at the Crossroads of America, where I-75 north/south intersects with I-70 east/west. If you are traveling by air, Dayton features an international airport (DAY), and conveniently offers many daily non-stop flights to several cities, many of which are 90 minutes or less. You can also find flights to Dayton, Ohio from cities nationwide. Taxis are plentiful at the airport, and will get you to your chosen hotel in no time. Uber has recently come to Dayton as well, so if you are already using that app you’ll enjoy the ease and familiarity while you’re here.

Getting here from all Directions

FROM THE NORTH
  • Take I-75 South; Downtown Dayton is only about 8 miles south of the I-70/I-75 interchange.
FROM THE EAST
  • Take I-70 East, then I-75 South; Downtown Dayton is only about 8 miles south of the I-70/I-75 interchange Or Take I-35 East.  Downtown Dayton is at the intersection of I-75 North/South and I-35 East/West.
FROM THE SOUTH
  • Take I-75 North. I-75 runs through Dayton, Ohio. The Austin Road Exit #39 is on the southern end of Dayton/Montgomery County and the Northwoods Blvd. Exit #64 is on the northern end of Dayton/Montgomery County.  Downtown Dayton exits begin at Exit 51.
FROM THE WEST
  • Take I-70 East, then I-75 South; Downtown Dayton is only 8 miles south of the I-70/I-75 interchange, OR
  • Take I-35 West. Downtown Dayton is at the intersection of I-75/North/South and I-35 East/West.

Getting Around

Once you arrive in Dayton, getting around the city couldn’t be simpler. Traffic is nominal here, and our public transportation system of streetcars and buses is quick to master. If you prefer seeing the sights by foot, getting from point A to point B is easy, thanks to our great selection of maps. Plus, our Midwestern charm and hospitality makes it hassle-free to ask for directions. Locals are generally very friendly and happy to help visitors find their way around town.
Public Transportation
Traveling around Dayton is easy with the Miami Valley Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Their electric trolleys offer year-round transit throughout the Dayton area.
